Dickerson Middle School, established in 1980, is a Blue Ribbon middle school in Marietta, Georgia, United States, as part of the Cobb County School District. Its feeder schools are Mt. Bethel, Sope Creek, Timber Ridge, and East Side Elementary Schools. Its principal is Dr. Carole Brink, who replaced Dr. Daniels in September 2007.

As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,410 students and 89.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 15.8.[1]

Awards and recognition

The Georgia General Assembly passed a resolution in 2006 "recognizing and commending Dickerson Middle School for outstanding contributions to education in the State of Georgia and excellence in student academic achievement; and for other purposes."[2]

During the 2007-2008 school year, Dickerson Middle School was recognized with the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education.[3]

In 1998, Dickerson was rated the top middle school in Cobb County by the Georgia Public Policy Foundation.[4]

Notable faculty

Carole Jean Kell was selected as the 2006 East Cobb Citizen of the Year. During her tenure as principal at Dickerson, the school was selected as the top Georgia middle school and as a Georgia School of Excellence.[5]
