Dimension Zero are an experimental electronic/gothic rock band based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Unlike traditional musical projects, Dimension Zero originated in 1992 as an online distributor for graphical/musical computer demos created by groups like Future Crew, ACiD, and The Humble Guys. Monty Singleton, the SysOp of Dimension Zero was fascinated by the possibilities of what could be created on a personal computer and began experimenting with electronically generated music.
Dimension Zero's first worldwide success came from the single, Live in Excess (Excess Is Best), hitting mp3.com's top 40 charts on December 14, 2000. This momentum attracted the attention of broadcast commercial radio and landed the track on the syndicated Chart-bound pop radio show hosted by Randy Dewitt which was played in rotation by major FM stations (including WBLI in NY and WPYO in Florida. Stations listed [1]) nationwide.[2]
Dimension Zero's next major success occurred on December 4, 2001 when multi-platinum artist Public Enemy founder Chuck D selected Public Enemy No. 1 (Dimension Zero redu) from a remix contest to appear on their 2002 album Revolverlution as a bonus track of the Japanese release.
Dimension Zero's third single, RePLiCa, was CNET's first No. 1 hit in June 2004 with 6,722 downloads its first week. As of 2008, RePLiCa has been downloaded over 11,800 times.[3]
After releasing many singles and remixes of artists (Nine Inch Nails, Public Enemy), Dimension Zero released their debut LP, Scythe, on June 10, 2007. Wes Woolston (Guitars/Synths) and Doug Vernieu (Drums) joined the band in early 2008. Dimension Zero is currently supporting Scythe with the 2008-2009 Voyeurism Tour throughout the United States. Scythe has been played and reviewed worldwide. [4] [5] [6]
