Diphyllodes is a subgenus of the genus Cicinnurus, that comprises the magnificent bird-of-paradise and Wilson's bird-of-paradise. Diphyllodes was historically the genus of the two aforementioned species.
The remaining species in the genus Cicinnurus is the king bird-of-paradise, which is in the monotypic subgenus Cicinnurus.
