Afolabi Oladipo Christopher "Dipo" Akinyemi (born 10 June 1997) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Dulwich Hamlet, on loan from Stevenage.[1][2]
Career
Stevenage
After making two appearances as an unused substitute in the 2014-15 season, Akinyemi signed professional terms with the Boro in the summer of 2015, and made his debut by starting in the opening league game of the season, a 0-2 defeat at home to Notts County. In his second start three days later, he played a vital role in helping Stevenage take the lead in a Football League Cup match against Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town. Boro would go on to lose the game 1-2.
Akinyemi would score his first professional goal the following weekend, with an equalising goal in a 2-2 draw at Newport County.[3]
At the start of November 2015, Akinyemi joined National League side Aldershot Town on a month's loan,[4] scoring on his debut against Lincoln City,[5] and making four league appearances in total during his stay.
Towards the end of March 2016, Akinyemi joined Isthmian League Premier Division side Dulwich Hamlet on loan for the remainder of the 2015-16 season.[6] He scored on his debut for the Hamlet, registering their second goal in a 2-2 away draw at Enfield Town,[7] before going on to score both goals in his next game, a 2-1 home win against Tonbridge Angels,[8] and scoring his fourth goal in three games in a 2-0 home win against Bognor Regis on 2 April 2016.[9]
Although raised in England, Akinyemi is also eligible to represent Nigeria.
