Location of Telangana in India

The state of Telangana, in southern India is divided into 10 districts.Mahboobnagar is the largest district by area whereas Ranga Reddy is the most populated and densely populated.

Administration

Districts of Telangana

A district of the Telangana is an administrative geographical unit, headed by a District collector, an officer belonging to the Indian Administrative Service. The district collector is assisted by a number of officers belonging to Telangana Civil Service and other state services. A Senior Superintendent of Police, an officer who belongs to the Indian Police Service is entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining law and order and related issues of the district. He is assisted by the officers of the Telangana Police and other Telangana Police officials.

A Division Forest Officer, an officer belonging to the Indian Forest Service is responsible for managing the forests, environment and wild-life related issues of the district. He is assisted by the officers of the Telangana Forest Department and Telangana Wild-Life officials. Sectoral development is looked after by the district head of each development department such as PWD, Agriculture, Health, Education, Animal husbandry, etc. These officers belong to various State Services.
