Divyaalakshmi

Divyaalakshmi (born 26 January 1985 in Dehradun, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand) is an Indian Television Actress, Dancer, Writer and Activist. Best known for her lively roles, she won accolades for her role of Rani Sajjabai Solankini, second wife of Rana Uday Singh on Sony TV's Bharat Ka Veer Putra-Maharana Pratap.

Early life

Divyaalakshmi was born in a Punjabi Khatri family on 26th January 1985 in Dehradun. She has an elder Brother, who is a Colonel in the Indian Army. Her Father is from Dehradun and her Mother Chandrika hails from Calcutta. She did her schooling from the prestigious St. Joseph's Academy, Dehradun. She holds a dual Master's Degree in Economics and Business Administration.

She is an Active member of 'The Art of Living Foundation'. She has been associated with numerous seva projects and social causes. She is a balchetna teacher for children and also work for old people.

Divyaalakshmi is trained in Tribal belly dance ,contemporary dance and Hindustani classical singing. She started performing on stage at the age of 2.

She wrote a sonnet at the age of 5 and since the age of 8 started writing stories. She enjoys reading and is versed with the Ancient Literature of India.

Career

Divyaalakshmi started her career as a Human Resource Executive in a recruitment firm in Mumbai. She then worked as a dubbing artist for an animated show. Her acting debut was in 2004 with Darna mana hai on Star One. She appeared on several episodic shows and many TV commercials before she signed Simply Sapney on Zee Next.

She was a popular face of the comedy sitcom FIR on Sabtv. She was a cop and popular for her takiya kalam 'Nahiiii..Okk bye'. She did around 500 episode of FIR.

She has done more shows on Sabtv ( FM88.2 , Yes Boss, Gunwale Dulhaniya Le jayenge, Main Saas kab Banungi etc). Divyaalakshmi then worked in Jyoti on Imagine TV where she played the negative role of Meenal Rathore.

Divya also worked in Kunal Kohli's film Break K Baad playing the character of Preeti Gulati, Imran Khan's sister in 2010. She has additionally been a beauty face of Malayalam advertising industry.

Divyaalakshmi took a sabbatical and returned in the year 2012 with LifeOk's Hum ne li hai... Shapath as Bulbul, a young 22 year old Delhi con girl. Later she becomes a teacher and adopts a child. She had a double role and also played the part of her Grandmother. Bulbul was the love Interest of Kavi, played by Aamir Dalvi. Kavi-Bulbul was a popular Jodi on Life Ok. She played her role for 22 months.

She also appeared in Fear Files on Zee TV as Mahek.

Divyaalakshmi gained recognition and appreciation for her role as Rani Sajjabai Solankini in Sony TV's Bharat ka veer putra- Maharana Pratap.[1] Sajjabai was the second wife of Rana Uday Singh , step mother of Pratap and biological mother of Shakti singh and Vikram Dev.

In August 2014 she participated in the International Dance Festival which was held in Shanghai, China.

In 2015, She is the Sutradhar and hosts Ashtavinayak on Anandam TV.
