Dmitry Smolsky

Dmitry Smolsky or Dmitry Smolski (Belarusian: Дзмітрый Смольскі; born 25 July 1937) is a Belarusian composer. He was born in Minsk, Byelorussian SSR (now Belarus), and began his study of music at the Moscow Conservatory. He continued his studies at the Belarusian State Conservatory, graduating in 1960. After completing his education, he took a position teaching at the Belarusian Conservatory where he taught notable students including Halina Harelava. His music has been performed internationally.[1][2] Dmitry Smolsky is the father of Victor Smolski, guitarist of the German heavy metal band Rage.
