Dogsthorpe Star Pit

Dogsthorpe Star Pit nature reserve, 2004

Dogsthorpe Star Pit is a Site of Special Scientific Interest[1][2] and Local Nature Reserve[3][4] managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough, a charity formed in 1994. It is located north-east of Dogsthorpe and west of the village of Eye in the unitary authority area of Peterborough in the United Kingdom.

The brick pit was excavated to produce clay and has since developed into an important wildlife site. Many of Peterborough’s old clay pits have been used for landfill, but the discovery of the wildlife value of these pits has helped to secure their future as a nature reserves.[5]
