Dollar Bay High School is located in Dollar Bay, Michigan. It was established in 1914 and lies right on the outer boundary of Dollar Bay, a small town on the Keweenaw Waterway. The school has less than 400 students, K-12. Most active students are from Dollar Bay, Tamarack City, Hubbell, and Lake Linden.
Academics
Advanced placement classes are offered for subjects such as math and science. Because the school cannot support a full teaching staff, most teachers teach multiple classes. Another program offered through Dollar Bay is dual enrollment for juniors and seniors through neighboring colleges, Michigan Tech and Finlandia University. Students involved in this exchange program will go to a university of choice for 2 hours (usually twice a week) and join in the class they have chosen.
Sports
Dollar Bay offers sports such as basketball, hockey, track, golf, cross country, cheerleading and Quiz Bowl.
- Basketball
A new gym has been added to the school which is used for home games and practice. There are full Varsity and Junior Varsity boys and girls teams along with programs for middle school students and children in the elementary for early basketball development.
- Hockey
The hockey program at Dollar Bay is the smallest of the four, and Dollar Bay merges their team with nearby Jeffers High School to form a full squad.
- Track
Varsity and Junior Varsity track teams are available for students 7-12 to join.
- Golf
Golf is a growing sport at Dollar Bay.
- Cross Country
