Domingo Iturrate Zubero (Dima, 11 May 1901 - Belmonte, 7 April 1927 or Domingo of Blessed Sacrament, was a Trinitarian priest and devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary at an early age.

Biography

Domingo was born in Dima in the Basque region of Spain on 11 May 1901, one of twelve children. He entered the Trinitarian Order in Algorta in 1914 and maded his novitiate in the hosuse of La Bien Aparecida in Cantabria. Received the religious name of Domingo of the Blessed Sacrament on the day of his simple profession in 1918.

Dominic professed his solemn vows on October 23, 1922, and was ordained priest on August 9, 1925. He celebrated Mass “as an act of personal sacrifice in union with the Supreme Victim on behalf of all”. His own life was soon to become a sacrifice also. As his health worsened he wrote “Our obedience to God’s will must be total, without reserve, and constant.”

In June 1926 Dominic was found to be afflicted with an advanced stage of pulmonary tubercolosis and he spent the last year of his life in the house of Belmonte (Cuenca). He died at the age of 26 on April 7, 1927. His mortal remains rest in a side chapel of Holy Redeemer Church in Algorta, Vizacay, Spain.

Was beatified by Pope saint John Paul II on October 30, 1983.[1]
