Domiziano Arcangeli (born June 10, 1968) is an Italian and American actor, producer, and writer.[1]

Biography

Arcangeli was discovered in 1979 by photographer Helmut Newton in Venice, Italy.[2]

Arcangeli became a fashion model during the 1980's.[3] Some of his photographs made the covers of International magazines.[4]

Arcangeli was called by Federico Fellini, at Cinecitta Studios in Rome, Italy, for a screen test to play the young lead of a movie but the movie was never made.[2] Arcangeli, later starred in Fellini’s “Intervista” (1987) playing himself at his first screen test.[5]

Career

His actual debut was in the 1980 for an Italian/Japanese film “Eden no sono”[3] and continued to appear in films during the 1980s and 1990s, among them "The Good Soldier" in 1982 directed by Franco Brusati,[6]"Credo"(1983) directed in France by Jacques Deray,[7] "Sodoma's Ghost"(1988)directed by Lucio Fulci,[8] “Love Of a Woman” directed by Nelo Risi in 1988,[9] appeared in the historical drama "Francesco" directed in 1989 by Liliana Cavani, starring Mickey Rourke.[10]

He later played a part in Tinto Brass comedy "Paprika"(1991),[11] and "Dark Friday" directed by Aldo Lado in 1993.[12] Simultaneously he worked in several stage productions of plays with directors such as Giuseppe Patroni-Griffi,Luca Ronconi,Lev Dodin, Giancarlo Sepe, Jonathan Miller, and a few others.[13]

Throughout the 1990s, Arcangeli had starring roles in “Last Flight To Hell” (1990),[14] in “Rito D’Amore” (1990),[15] in “Black Demons” directed by Umberto Lenzi,[16] “Belle Da Morire” (1992),[17] “L’Urlo della Verita”,[18] “Albert Savarus” (1993) based on a novel of Honore’ de Balzac,[19] “Estasi” in 1993,[20] “Delitti a Luce Rossa” (1996),[21] he played Helmut in the Tv Series "Le Ragazze di Piazza di Spagna"(1998) directed by Jose Maria Sanchez,[22] he was cast in “Red Silk” (1999),[23] “Il Conte Di Melissa” (2000),[24] “Incubus” (2002),[25] "3 Women" directed in Luxembourg in 2003 by Luciano Emmer .[26] Arcangeli had moved to the United States, where he already had citizenship.[27] and immediately was cast as Popo in the Showtime/Viacom TV series "Zalman King's ChromiumBlue"(2002-2003).[28]

He later moved on to play darker roles, such as Carlton, his first American antagonist, opposite actor Jeffrey Wright in the 2004 thriller "Sin's Kitchen" directed by Fabien Pruvot.[29] Arcangeli has then worked in several other independent films, "Gameface" in 2007 directed by James Rhodimer,[30] the thriller "The Seer" (2007) directed by Luigi Desole,[31] and in Kurando Mitsutake's "Samurai Avenger:The Blind Wolf" in 2009.[32] In 2009 Arcangeli founded his Film production company Empire Films,inc. and he produced and starred in "House of Flesh Mannequins" directed by Domiziano Christopharo in 2009,[33] "Virus X" (2011)[34] and "The Ghostmaker"(2012) both released in the United States by Lions Gate Films,[35] and in the comedy "Scenes from a Gay Marriage".[36]

In 2013, along with his production company Empire Film's new business partner, Aaron Benore, and Jake Barsha of Right Hook Films, Arcangeli co-executive produced the mini-TV series The Bathroom Diaries (2013) in which he plays Snake, and starred in the feature film "The Brides of Sodom" directed by Creep Creepersin in 2013.[37] He appeared as "Chaka" in the second season of the TV series "Femme Fatales"in 2012,[38] in Giorgio Serafini's "Ambushed" (2013) aka "Thrill Kill",[39] in the futuristic thriller written and directed by Paul Hough "The Human Race"(2014)[40] and played the heavy "Larry" in Ivan Zuccon's psychological horror "Wrath of the Crows"(2014),[41]

In 2013, along with his production company Empire Film's new business partner, Aaron Benore, and Jake Barsha of Right Hook Films, Arcangeli co-executive produced the mini-TV series The Bathroom Diaries (2013) in which he plays Snake, an ex-child star.[42]
