"Don't Talk to Strangers" is a song written and performed by Australian musician Rick Springfield. This song was released as a single in 1982, from the album Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet. It reached #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, making it his second biggest hit in the United States after the #1 hit, Jessie's Girl.
Song background
The song was written to Rick Springfield's then girlfriend Barbara (later his wife), whom he was worried was getting involved with other people while they were apart. Springfield said looking back on the song, "Back then, I was scared that she was fucking around because I was doing the same thing".[1]
