Donax trunculus (abrupt wedge shell, wedge clam), is a bivalve species in the family Donacidae. It is native to the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts of western Europe.[1] It is locally known as tellin, tellina, telline or "tenille" in French, tellina or coquina in Spanish, and conquilha or cadelinha in Portuguese, and is consumed as a food in these countries. There is a very similar shellfish in Australia locally known as "Pippies"
