Dorothea Smartt

Dorothea Smartt (born 1963) is an English-born poet of Barbadian descent.[1]

The daughter of immigrants from the Barbados, she was born in London and grew up there. Smartt was poet in residence at Brixton Market and attached live artist at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. She has lectured on creative arts at Birkbeck College and Leeds University. She has been poetry editor for Sable LitMag[2] and guest writer at Florida International University and Oberlin College. Her work has appeared in various literary journals and poetry anthologies.[1]

Smartt created and performed the work Medusa which incorporates poetry and visuals.[2]
