The Dover Christ Church Academy opened in September 2010 when it replaced Archers Court Maths and Computing College which had been placed in the National Challenge. Dover Christ Church was backed by the Dover Grammar schools, Canterbury Christ Church University as well as the Local Education Authority (Kent). Richard Williams is currently the only principal to be at the school, joining the school at the start of its era from Medina High School on the Isle of Wight. Richard Williams is supported by a comprehensive leadership team of two Vice Principals and a further two Assistant Vice Principals.

Academy Curriculum

Academy Curriculum is designed over three core facultities, Communication, Maths and Science and Practical and Applied Learning. The Faculty of Communication contains Humanities, English, Languages, Music and Arts. The Faculty of Mathematics and Science includes Mathematics, Science and ICT departments. Finally the Faculty of Practical and Applied Learning contains Food Technology, Textiles, Product Design, Graphics, Physical Education and other vocational based courses such as Construction and Hair & Beauty. Because the academy opened after September 2007 the academy is required by law to teach the national curriculum of Maths, English, Science and ICT.

Controversial Strike

In October 2010, over 300 students took part in a walk out and boycotted lessons over disagreements in timetabling arrangements. The academy later changed the timetable to one that suited all parties.
