History
The Science Magnet was formed in the mid-1970s and housed at the former School 24. The Museum Site was constructed in the late 1980s and opened to students in 1990. The school originally housed Grades K through 6 before opening its satellites and switching to Grades 3 through 8. Grades 7 and 8 were housed at the Buffalo Zoo.
The School 24 site was closed in 2002, and the Zoo site in 2011. Beginning in Fall 2012, the school's museum site underwent renovations. The school is being housed at the former Poplar Academy School on Poplar Avenue in the interim.
