The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) is an agency under the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination of the Government of Pakistan.
Formation
The Authority was formed by the passage of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan Act, 2012 in the Parliament of Pakistan.[1]
Purpose
According to the Authority, it has mainly two aims and purposes:[2]
- "to provide effective coordination and enforcement of Drugs Act, 1976 for provision of drugs and therapeutic goods that are safe, effective, quality and economical"
- " to bring harmony in interprovincial trade and commerce of drugs and therapeutic goods"
