"E Dehun" is a song by Kosovan recording artist Era Istrefi, from her forthcoming debut album. Written by Era Istrefi and Gjiko The song was released by BZZZ! Publishing as the album's third single on 17 May 2014. On the official release, the songs producer Mixey is credited as a featured artist.

Writing and composition

The song was written by Era Istrefi and Gjiko. The song samples portions of the song "E Dehun" by Nexhmije Pagarusha. Lyrically "E Dehun" is about unrequited love and the protagonist of the song trying to forget it's love interest. The song changes from acoustic guitars in the introduction and chorus to a drum and bass section in the verse, back to acoustic guitars in the bridge and back to a drum and bass conclusion.

Music video

The music video was directed by Astrit Ismaili. The concept of the video was to have a bright location and a dark location. The bright location is used in the acoustic parts of the song, whereas the dark location is used for the drumm and bass part. The video was shot in the Cathedral of Blessed Mother Teresa in Pristina serving as the bright location and in an unfinished Serbian Orthodox Church in Pristina, serving as the dark location.

Controversy

The Serbian media and the Serbian Orthodox Church immediately reacted to the video for the usage of the unfinished Church as a filming location, which caused Era a huge cyber-buzz.[1][2] Also, the Apostolic Administration of Prizren reacted for the using of the Mother Theresa Cathedral for filming scenes which they had not been granted permission. The director of the music video, Astrit Ismaili reacted immediately, citing that there was never any intention to offend Serbians, and that he had permission to shoot the video in the entrance of the church.[3]
