East Ferry Marina

East Ferry Marina is located on the eastern side of the Great Island in Cork Harbour near Cork city, located near Ireland. It is positioned nearly equidistant between the north-eastern and north-western shores of the Great Island.

Topography

The marina is nestled inside East Ferry, directly opposite a large hill with the Marlogue Forest upon it. It faces another hill, on the Middleton side of the channel with another forest on it. Two large hills cause funnelling of the Irish prevailing winds, and Moorings litter the northern half of the channel, making navigation for a craft over 40 feet very hard. The water depth is on average 10 metres, yet the tidal range in the Cork Harbour is typically around 4.8 metres.

Facilities and businesses

The area used to be home to the public house "The Marlogue Inn". Now, however, there is only the marina itself and the sailing school, Sailcork.com. The area has a marina, shower and changing facilities, a pier and a car park (the changing and shower facilities are public).
