East Gaston High School (also referred to as East Gaston or EGHS) is a public high school that is part of the Gaston County Schools district and is located in Mt. Holly, NC. Its attendance range covers northeastern Gaston County and includes western portions of Mount Holly, the town of Stanley and the communities of Mountain Island, Alexis, Lucia, and the surrounding rural area. The school was established in 1972 when high schools in the neighboring communities of Mount Holly and Stanley were consolidated. It is home of the 2010 District Principal (Marty Starnes), School Social Worker (Angela Ferguson), and School Counselor (Cindy Cloninger) of the Year.
Dr. Cristi Bostic serves as principal of East Gaston, and she has held that position since the retirement of Marty Starnes following the 2010-2011 school year. Assistant principals are Lucinda Huffstetler, Tyson Jeffus, and Tosh Zaleski. Tom Adams serves as athletics director.[1] Feeder Middle Schools are Stanley and Mt. Holly.[3]
