East Oxford Farmers' & Community Market

East Oxford Farmers' & Community Market is a local farmers' market, held on Sundays at the East Oxford Primary School.

It has been running since August 2006, and is a non-profit making organisation - a Community Benefit Society - run by a committee and a group of volunteers.[1]

East Oxford Farmers' & Community Market is part of the Oxford Community Markets group.[2] The majority of producers are from within 30 miles of Oxford, and some produce is Fairtrade certified.

History

Founded as a consequence of an election promise by the local Green Party, the Market opened its doors to customers in August 2006. It was first held at the Asian Cultural Centre in Manzil Way but relocated to the current venue - the grounds and main hall of East Oxford Primary school - in 2009.

The market was a finalist for the 2011 BBC Food and Farming Awards in the category of Best Food Market.[3]
