Eastern Coalfields Limit

(ECL) is a coal producer based in India. The company was founded in 1975 after nationalization of coal mines in India. It inherited all the private sector coal mines of Raniganj Coalfields. It is one of the eight fully owned subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. The company has its headquarters at Sanctoria, Asansol in West Bengal.[1][2][3]

It at present owns 105 numbers of operating mines out of which 81 are underground mines, 24 are opencast mines. The majority of its mines are in West Bengal and some in Jharkhand State.[1]
