Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor or Eastern DFC is an under construction freight corridor in India by Indian Railways. It is going to be a broad gauge corridor. This will have double line and will be electrified. Due to lack of space the section from Ludhiana in Punjab to Khurja in Uttar Pradesh will be single line electrified. This corridor will cover total distance of 1839 km. This corridor will also pass through Dadri ,Uttar Pradesh (The origin point of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor) which will serve as a junction.

Route

This corridor will cover first 447 km of Ludhiana - Dhari - Khurja section with single electrified track. After this the remaining line will be double track electrified up to Dankuni in West Bengal. This will cover important stations of Sahnewal, Doraha,_Ludhiana, Sirhind, Rajpura, Ambala, Saharanpur, Meerut, Hapur, Aligarh, Hathras, Barhan, Tundla, Firozabad, Etawah, Kanpur, Allahabad and Mughalsarai. To reduce load over main line this line will have many junctions. The proposed junctions on this line are Dhandharikalan, Sirhind, Rajpura, Khalanaur, Khurja, Daudkhan, Tundla, Bhaupur, Prempur, Cheoki / Naini, Jeonathpur, Mughalsarai, Ganjkhwaja, Son Nagar railway station, Gomoh, Andal and Dankuni (The eastern terminal point).

Bhaupur (near Kanpur) - Mughalsarai 393 Bhaupur-Prempur-Allahabad-Mughalsarai The World Bank has sanctioned a loan for the development of this section in 2014 April. [4] [5]
Mughalsarai - Sonnagar 118 Mughalsarai-Sonnagar Contract awarded to C&C Construction Gurgaon and BSCPL. Work started in 2009 February. [6] This section will cost 3679 crores to develop and is funded by Government. [7]
Sonnagar - Dankuni 538 Sonnagar-Gomoh-Dankuni Bids to be invited soon (as of 2014 April). [8][9]
