Eastridge High School is an American public secondary school located in Irondequoit, New York. The School is an IB (International Baccalaureate) world school. It also offers Honors and AP classes. Its current principal is Timothy Heaphy. Its current assistant principals are Brian Kurdziel, Sheri Webber and Christopher Whipple. This is the main high school in the East Irondequoit Central School District. The school also features a marching band, indoor percussion ensemble and drama club for yearly shows. On May 7, 2015, Eastridge High School has earned the distinction of being one of ten schools chosen as a School of Opportunity by the National Education Policy Center (NEPC). More than 80 schools applied and four were awarded “Gold Recognition” and six earned “Silver Recognition”. Eastridge is one of the schools awarded Silver Recognition.[1]

Grade requirements

According to the 2016–2017 Program of Studies,[2] the credits needed for a student to pass their grade level are as follow:

Grade 10 - 5 Credits Grade 11 - 10 Credits Grade 12 - Student MUST be on track to graduate in June of grade 12

As of 2004, new requirements have been set for the number of credits needed in order to graduate and receive diplomas, and also for the number of credits required for students to pass their grade level.

Academic Placement

East Irondequoit Lancer Marching Band and Indoor Percussion

The East Irondequoit Lancer Marching Band has won six state championships over 35 years in the New York State Field Band Conference, in 1985, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1998 and 1999.[4]

Their shows, from 2008 to the present, included Pablo in 2008, which placed 6th of 8 bands with a score of 84.25, Through Darkened Sleepy Hallow in 2009, which placed 7th of 8 bands with a score of 81.60, Don Quixote in 2010, which placed 5th of 7 bands with a score of 84.30, Vesuvius in 2011, which placed 6th of 8 bands with a score of 84.15, Red Riding Hood in 2012, with vastly improved results, placed 3rd of 8 bands with a score of 88.05, The Sound of Music in 2013, which also placed 3rd of 7 bands with a score of 86.35, Pilatus: Mountain of Dragons in 2014 placed 4th of 7 bands with a score of 85.45. Hansel & Gretel in 2015 placed 5th of 6 bands with a score of 84.55. The 2016 show is still to be announced. On June 7, 2014, Eastridge High School's Music Department went to Sherburne, New York for the 65th Annual Pageant of Bands were they received best overall bands in Class "A". On September 6, 2014, the Lancer Marching Band beat Medina, their long-time rivals at their home competition, "Rainbow of Stars" with a score of 76.30. The current band director is Jeff Hoffman. East Irondequoit also has an Indoor Percussion group, which performs every winter, the current director is Francois Auclair, and the 2015 show was based off Star Wars, entitled Tale of the Jedi. Previous shows were The Subway System in 2012, The Capuccino Effect in 2013 and The Heist in 2014. The 2016 show is entitled, Do You Feel Lucky?. Over the weekend of June 6, 2015, the Eastridge High School Show Choir, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Lancer Marching Band traveled to Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, Pennsylvania for the 2015 Music in the Parks Competition, where all groups received First Place and a Superior Rating, along with Best Overall in Jazz Ensemble and Show Choir and Class of 2015 student Matthew Daley earning Best Soloist on Trumpet.[5] In addition, Eastridge High School and the East Irondequoit Central School District were named as one of the best communities for music education by the National Association of Music Merchants.[6]

EHS Musicals

Eastridge Musicals were recognized by the Rochester Broadway Theater League's Stars of Tomorrow awards in 2006 for their show Crazy For You, which received seven nominations, including "Outstanding Musical", and one win. In 2007, Thoroughly Modern Millie received six nominations (2 wins), including "Outstanding Musical" and the 2008 musical Grease received five points of recognition, including "Outstanding Musical".[7] The 2009 musical was The Wiz and the 2010 musical was Annie, the 2011 musical was The Music Man, the 2012 musical was "Once Upon a Mattress", the 2013 musical was "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", and the 2014 musical was entitled "Hairspray". The 2015 musical production was Elton John and Tim Rice's "Aida". The 2016 musical was Beauty and The Beast from Disney. The current choral and musical director is Ellice Amendolare, a December 2013 WROC-TV Golden Apple Award Winner. The theatrical director is Katherine Edwards.
