Echoterra is a Symphonic Power Metal band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA founded in 2007 by Jonah Weingarten and Yan Leviathan.

History

Formation (2007-2008)

Echoterra was formed in 2007 by Jonah Weingarten and Yan Leviathan in Minneapolis. The members spent 2007 and 2008 writing songs for Echoterra's debut album.

In 2008, Suvi Virtanen, once a live member of Therion, joined the band as the vocalist. The remainder of the lineup was complete when Brian Hollenbeck joined the band on bass and vocals, and John Gensmer on drums.

The Law of One and line-up changes (2009–2010)

In 2009, Echoterra spent mostly in the studio and the album was completed in the summer. On September 15, their debut album The Law of One was then released in North America through Blinding Force Recordings and was available world wide via Amazon, CDBaby, iTunes, and other popular sites.

In late 2009, Suvi Virtanen left Echoterra and was replaced by Melissa Ferlaak who formerly sang in symphonic metal bands Aesma Daeva and Visions Of Atlantis and Adam Sagan replaced Gensmer on drums.

In January 5, 2009, Echoterra's new EP In Your Eyes was released with newly remastered songs. A change was needed in order to allow Echoterra the opportunities to perform live. With the new lineup in place, the band started to perform regularly starting in early 2010.

Land of the Midnight Sun and Melissa's departure (2011–2012)

In 2011, the band went back into studio and started recording a new album called Land Of The Midnight Sun, and was released it on October 17, 2011, through Blinding Force Recordings.

On March 13, 2012, Melissa officially announced that she had left Echoterra due to musical differences.
