Ed Berliner is an American news anchor, businessman, journalist and actor, currently the host of The Hard Line, a prime-time news and talk program on Newsmax TV.[1] He has won multiple Emmy Awards for his various anchor roles at networks including ESPN, FOX, CBS, and NBC, and particularly his sports broadcasting.[2]
Early career
Berliner began his broadcasting career at age 17. His first job on national TV was with Sports News Network, the first 24-hour sports news network. From 1992-1995, he worked as an anchor, reporter, and executive producer at WSVN-TV. After a 16 year career as an Associated Press reporter, Berliner took various roles hosting programs for various networks and radio stations, including ESPN, FOX, CBS, and NBC. He also acted in minor roles in feature films and commercials.[1][3][4]
Berliner has also taken part in many business ventures, and is the CEO of Entourage Media, a film production company, as well as The Undefeated Image, a corporate and personal branding consulting company.[5] Berliner has also been campaigner for causes such as The Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Humane Society, and the American Diabetes Association.[2]
From 1985 – 2000, Berliner was the game announcer at Sun Life Stadium for the Orange Bowl.[6]
Newsmax TV
Berliner joined Newsmax TV in March 2014, hosting the news program Midpoint.[7][8]
Midpoint was replaced with The Hard Line with Ed Berliner in June 2015. Dubbed, "The Fastest 60 Minutes in News", The Hard Line features Berliner conducting interviews and recapping the day's news with his signature fast-paced speaking style he had been known for as a sports announcer with 5 minutes of commentary at the end of each segment. Berliner's guests have included U.S. Sen. John McCain, Ted Cruz, economist Peter Morici, former FEMA director Michael Brown, outspoken former Congressman Barney Frank and heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield.[1][7][9]
