Ed Day

Edwin J. "Ed" Day was elected Rockland County Executive in November, 2013. [1] He joined the ranks of the New York City Police Department. He retired in 2000 as Commanding Officer of two Detective Squads in the Bronx, followed by a career in private security consulting.

Running on the Republican and Preserve Rockland lines, Day was elected Rockland’s third County Executive with 52% of the vote to his opponent’s 46% in an election that saw historically high turnout. Day was first elected to public office as a member of the Rockland County Legislature in 2006.

County Executive Day has been married to Jean for over 30 years. Ed and Jean are the parents to two sons and have one grandson. One of his sons, Chris Day, was the Republican candidate for the US House of Representatives for New York's 17th Congressional District in the 2014 elections. [2]
