Ed Foster (1949 July 26, 2008) was an American columnist for InfoWorld, best remembered for his Gripelog column in InfoWorld, and his work opposing UCITA.

Career

Foster worked at InfoWorld as a reporter, writer, editor, and publication executive for over 20 years. In 1993, he launched his popular column. "The Gripe Line", which later became an ongoing blog. Foster has also worked as a critic, essayist, and poet. His poetry has been published and translated into many different languages. He is the founding editor of Talisman: A Journal of Contemporary Poetry and Poetics, Talisman House, Publishers, and Jensen/Daniels, Publishers. Foster is the president of Greenfield Distribution.[1] /> INCORRECT: The Edward Foster who is a poet and who runs Talisman is a completely different Edward Foster—and he is very much alive as of Feb 11, 2015.

At Stevens Institute of Technology, Foster was a history professor and associate dean for administration. He was also a professor at Drew University Graduate Faculty, Beykent University, Haceteppe University, and at the University of Istanbul.[1] Wrong Ed Foster. Organizations

Foster was on the Advisory Committee for the Middle East of the Council for International Exchange of Scholars. He is a member of the US Student Fulbright National Screening Committee for a number of countries. He also serves on the advisory committees for the Light Millennium, Inc., and as an associate member for the journal Reconfigurations.[1]

Private life

He had a son, Jeff Foster.
