Edison Mission Energy

Edison Mission Energy (EME) used to be an independent power producer based in California, which was originally owned by Edison International until its sale to NRG Energy on April 1, 2014. In the 1990s, EME owned power generating assets in Victoria, Australia and 51% of Contact Energy in New Zealand. On December 17, 2012, EME filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection with a proposal to transfer control of the company to holders of $3.7 billion in unsecured bonds.[1]
