He is a consensus 5-star prospect, and one of the top rated basketball players in the class of 2016. He has signed a letter of intent to play college basketball at the University of Kentucky.
Early life
Born to Nigerian immigrant parents. Adebayo got the nickname “Bam Bam” (after Bamm-Bamm Rubble) from his mother after he picked up a coffee table while watching The Flintstones when he was just 1.[1]
High school
His junior year he attended Northside High School, where he averaged 32.2 points and 21 rebounds a game.[1] After his junior season he transferred to High Point Christian to play alongside Coastal Carolina University signee Amidou Bamba. [2]
He committed to Kentucky on November 17, live on ESPN's Mike & Mike simulcast radio show.[3] He chose Kentucky over NC State and Auburn.
He’s ranked in the top 10 by Rivals (No. 6) and ESPN (No. 6). 247Sports (No. 14) and Scout (No. 15) tab him as a top-15 prospect in the 2016 class. He has prior USA Basketball experience and was named a MaxPreps All-American in 2013.[4]
