Egypt Sherrod is a television, radio personality, author, speaker and home space expert. With over 14 years as an realtor, Egypt Sherrod has been named "America's most beloved real estate agent" as host of HGTV's "Flipping Virgins" & "Property Virgins."[1] She's made recurring appearances as the real estate "go-to girl" on NBC's Today Show, CNBC, FOX, CNN, HLN as well as being featured in Rolling Stone, Black Enterprise, Fast Company, Time Out New York and a host of other magazines. Egypt is the author of the Best-Selling "Keep Calm…It’s Just Real Estate: Your No-Stress Guide To Buying A Home," on Running Press/Perseus Books.[2]
Licensed in two states, Egypt is also the real estate columnist for Atlanta Magazine & Atlanta Magazine's HOME Edition. A powerhouse speaker and moderator, Egypt hosted the stage at Oprah’s "The Life You Want Tour", and countless business conferences. As a 20-year award winning radio personality, Egypt has been syndicated in more than 60 cities throughout the USA. Known for her dynamic mix of sass and class, Egypt has landed notable interviews with A-listers such as Oprah Winfrey, Prince, Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, Tyler Perry, Martin Scorsese, the late James Brown and countless others.[3] She was most recently heard on WBLS in NYC and Atlanta radio station, WVEE.
In 2008 Egypt founded The Egypt Cares Family Foundation which is a non-profit dedicated to financial empowerment and awareness. The main focus of the organization is to educate both men and women about the importance of wealth preservation and home ownership. The foundation’s work has been very successful, earning her many praises including the Mission Award from WEEN (Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network) and several Proclamations from Brooklyn President Marty Markowitz for her "Egypt Cares Give Back Tour," an annual coat and toy drive. Egypt has also received the Humanitarian Citation from the Borough of New York, State Assembly Citation as a Humanitarian and Community Advocate, as well as the New York City Council Citation for Community Service.[3][4]
Early life and education
Sherrod was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcasting and telecommunications from Temple University.[5] She has also studied theater at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
Career
She was named #2 in Radio and Records’ "Power Player on the Rise" Top 10 list, and also received the "Executive to Watch" Award from NABFEME (National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment).
She stars in the 2012 film Life, Love, Soul.[6]
Personal life
Sherrod married Mike Jackson[7] on September 11, 2010.[8] Jackson has a daughter from a previous relationship; Sherrod and Jackson have a daughter together, Kendall, born in January 2012.[9][10]
