Eigerøya

Eigerøy Bridge connects Eigerøya to the mainland

Eigerøya is an island in Eigersund, Norway. The island covers an area of 19.9 square kilometres (7.7 sq mi). Highest point is 131 m (430 ft) above sea level. Eigerøya is separated from the mainland by a narrow strait with length about 13 km (8 mi). A bridge over the strait connects Eigerøya to the mainland. The island has fish processing industry and other industries. Two lighthouses are located at the island, Eigerøy Lighthouse and Vibberodden Lighthouse.[1]

A naval battle was fought off the island by British and Dutch frigate squadrons at the Action of 22 August 1795.
