Ekaterina Krysanova (Russian: Екатерина Валерьевна Крысанова) is a Russian principal dancer of Bolshoi Ballet.

Biography

Krysanova was born in Moscow, Russia in 1985[1] and was trained at the Lavrovsky School of Ballet. She received a gold medal in 2001 at the Prix de Luxembourg International Ballet Competition and the same year was awarded a bronze one for Junior Competition. In 2002 she was awarded another bronze in Saint Petersburg[2] and the same year attended Bolshoi Ballet Academy from which she graduated in 2003. The same year, she became a member of Bolshoi Ballet and was promoted to the soloist by 2009 under a direction of Svetlana Adyrkhaeva and as a result played in the Bavarian State Opera.[1] She was, however, a soloist before it as well. She appeared in such plays as In the Upper Room of Twyla Tharp, Class Concert, and many others between 2004 and 2007. Her first role was Spanish Doll in the Nutcracker and was followed by Fairy of Audacity in Sleeping Beauty and many other memorable roles majority of which were produced by Yuri Grigorovich.[3]
