El Sabinal Colony

El Sabinal Colony is a colony of Plautdietsch-speaking Mennonites in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. It is the most traditional colony of the so-called "Russian" Mennonites in northern Mexico, indicated by the horse and buggy transportation that is still in use there. About 600 people are living there. The documentary "Living in a Perfect World" tells the story of Mennonites living in El Sabinal and other Mennonite colonies in Northern Mexico.
