Elinor Greer Constable (born 1934) is a diplomat and former United States Ambassador to Kenya (1986–89).[1] She was nominated for the position by Ronald Reagan.[2]
She graduated from Wellesley College and speaks Spanish and Urdu.[3] Before becoming ambassador, she had a career as a Foreign Service officer.[2] After leaving her post as ambassador, she was Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs from 1993 to 1995.[1] She is a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy.[3] She was married to the late Peter Dalton Constable, former Director General of the Multinational Force and Observers in the Sinai Peninsula and for ambassador to Zaire.[4] She has served on the Board of Directors of Search for Common Ground since 2000.
