Ella Habiba Shohat (Arabic: إيلا حبيبة شوحيط; born 1959) is a cultural-studies academic. Her main research interests are post-colonialism and representation in the Middle East. She identifies as an Iraqi Israeli woman living, writing and teaching in the U.S.[1]
Academic career
Shohat completed both her M.A. and Ph.D. at New York University. She has worked at City University of New York[1] and New York University where she is now professor of cultural studies.[2]
