Ellerslie School was founded in 1877,[1] making it one of the oldest schools in Auckland, New Zealand. It is a Year 1 to Year 8 school.

Ellerslie has a roll of 672 students (as of November 2015[3]), with most students living in the Ellerslie/Greenlane area.

Ellerslie School is in zone for One Tree Hill College.

The current principal is Mr Magner.

The Intermediate area of the school was upgraded in 2007, and has a multi-purpose technology block.

Sports

In 2007, Ellerslie School opened its Senior Playground, adding to the Junior Playground.

Ellerslie School is close to Ellerslie Shopping Centre.

Ellerslie also has its own After School Care, run by Lorraine Fifita. The EASC (Ellerslie After School Care) takes students from Ellerslie School, St Marys Primary School and sometimes Stanhope, Bailey Road and Sylvia Park Schools.

In 2007, the Year 8 Mathex team won the annual Casio Mathex competition, and never made it into the first three places anytime prior or after this year.
