Engifest is the annual cultural festival of Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi College of Engineering).[1][2] Engifest is a three-day-long cultural extravaganza held in the month of February.[3] It bridges the gap between technical education and creativity. It is a much needed wave of cultural activities, rich in diversity.It is a symbol of achievement and pride and a true testimony to the indomitable spirit, liveliness and sheer energy of youth. It witnesses wide participation from various parts of the country.

Introduction

Engifest is one of the largest college cultural festivals of the country amongst fests like Moksha NSIT and Rendezvous IIT.[4] A three to four-day festival held towards the middle of February,[5] it is a student-run non-profit organization which caters primarily for youth. Engifest includes to a variety of events, such as car stunts, cultural performances, live wire, star night, rock shows,[6] plays, dances, and others. In the past Engifest has been attended by Parikrama, Euphoria (Indian band), and artists like Vishal–Shekhar, Mohit Chauhan,[7][8] Hard Kaur,[9] Suraj Jagan, Raftaar, Manj Musik and Shibani Kashyap.

History

Engifest is one of the Oldest College cultural festivals of the country. It was Started way back in 1974 by a bunch of enthusiastic DCEians. Delhi Technological University was earlier known as Delhi College of Engineering, before 2009 when it was upgraded to DTU.[10]

Events

Competitions are held pre-dominantly in the genres of Dance, Music,Indoor Sports Dramatics, Fine Arts, Film and Photography (Digital), Literature, Debating and Quizzing. Teams from various colleges participate in these events to win prizes and showcase their talents.[11]

Main Events

Engifest Organizes a variety of Events from various disciplines including rocks shows,Kavi Sammelan the poetry show, Battle of Bands, Paridhan "The Fashion show", Soundtrack, the vocal Music Competition from various categories: Indian solo, western solo & Duet, Rangmanch it involves stage plays & Nukkad Natak, StepX it is the dance show which invites dance groups from all over the country for live performance, Dirt The stunt show it involves the death-defying stunts on the roads of DTU Campus, spandan it is the dance and choreography competition from three major categories- Indian, western and choreo.[12]

Informals

Informals are the Events intended to create fun & jolly around the campus, these are random events which do not require the participant to be master at that trade. These are an integral part of Engifest. Every year various creative & funny events are organised as informals. Engifest Organizes a number of fun and adventure filled events such as Gaming, Go Karting, Tug of war, Minute-to-Win, Mechanical Bull, Street Soccer, these events witnesses a large participation throughout the four day long festival. A number of Online Events are also hosted in the Engifest such as Sketching, Photography, T-shirt Design etc., which are widely participated & endorsed.
