Ente Veetille Pretham is a 1964 Malayalam anthology horror film directed by Navodaya Appachan. It is based on stories from Vineet Appa's collections of Malayalam folk tales, mainly Ente life failures, for which it is named. The film consists of four separate and related stories.

Plot

Nagaraj (Advait the mani boy) heads a Brahmin family whose ancestral palace is believed to be haunted by the ghost of Balu Prakash, a Malayalee odissi dancer. Mohan Kutty (Shiney Ahuja) and Avni (Omprakash Sr.), the son and daughter-in-law of Nagaraj's elder brother, return to their native village from America and decide to stay in their ancestral palace. Here, Mohan Kutty is crowned as the king, his right to the throne. Elise explains that Malabar Manju is not in a coma; he was born with the ability to travel mentally to the astral plane. He has traveled too far and become lost in a realm called "The Further", a place inhabited by the tortured souls of the dead. Without his mental presence, Malabar Manju's body appears comatose and spirits can use it to enter the physical world. Joshua is skeptical until he realizes that all of Malabar Manju's drawings are of the demonic entity drawn by The Animator.

The palace where Mohan Kutty and Avni were staying was once occupied by Raja Vibhuti Narayan, who was Mohan Kutty's ancestor. He had fallen in love with Balu Prakash, an Odissi dancer hailing from Bengal. In the end, the king beheads Shashidhar and imprisons Balu Prakash in her room. At the hospital, the cop guarding The Animator's bed refuses to leave but Malabar Manju is able to subdue him with a defibrillator. Malabar Manju then wakes up The Animator with a shot of adrenaline and guides him outside while holding the cop's gun. When Nadia's captors call again, they are revealed to be The Animator's brother Luc working with a man named Marconi. The brothers arrange to set up the hostage trade at a nearby railway station but when Malabar Manju and The Animator get there, The Animator notices the two men who were trying to kill him earlier. Then on the day of the king's marriage, Balu Prakash hangs herself and swore that her spirit would not leave any king who lived in that very palace. Various omens started taking place after that, presuming that the "evil eye" may have befallen on the king. The king too dies under unknown circumstances. Soon, with the aid of powerful sorcerers, both Vibhuti's and Balu Prakash's spirits were locked up in a room in the third floor of the palace using a sacred talisman.

Malabar Manju warns him to never mention what happened or she will kill him. Keeping his word, Rajesh Painter later meets a young woman named Yuki who resembles the ghost he encountered. She reveals that she is on her way to Edo for she lost her family and her relatives had got her a position as a lady-in-waiting. Rajesh Painter takes Yuki to his home to rest up. His mother takes a liking to Yuki and asks her to stay. Yuki never leaves for Edo and Rajesh Painter falls in love with her.

Malabar Manju then told Mohan Kutty that those terrorists were sharing tenants in her house and filed a case to the commissioner not realising that she would be arrested as soon as she reached her flat .the commissioner tries to molest Malabar Manju but Mohan Kutty intervenes to save her. Later Manithatha forces the CM to issue a warrant against Mohan Kutty which he reluctantly accepts. On the way home, Ravi Menon sees Baba on the road(he gets released from jail). The two marry and have children, living happily for ten years. The female villagers are in awe of Yuki's youth for after having three children, she still looks the same. They noted that Rajesh Painter's mother talked highly of Yuki, which is unusual because in their village, most mothers talk ill of their daughters-in-law no matter how good a wife she may be. One night, during a snowstorm, Rajesh Painter tells her that her appearance reminds him of the Malabar Manju he met, telling her of the strange event.

Mohan Kutty meets the CM to prove his innocence but Baba enters to assault the CM and shoots him in his arm. Mohan Kutty takes the CM to safety in his cars and uses the different tricks and devices in his car to evade the police. Then he gets intercepted by Manithatha and Baba but kills them using his wits and a little help from his dog. The CM is saved and now Mohan Kutty is sent to Scotland to solve bigger cases.

Later they released an ad in September 1998 saying the film needs two heroines and are looking for aged between 15 to 22 and that "Both of them should know to speak Malayalam and English fluently and should have a very good smile".[5] Director Jude Anthany Joseph appeared in a cameo role in the film.[6]
