Eric July (born April 17, 1990) is an American rapper and political activist. He currently leads the hip hop/metal band Backwordz, and is a contributor to LibertyHangout.org, Being Libertarian[1] and The Libertarian Republic.[2]

Personal life

Eric July was born in Dallas, Texas.[3] He attended South Oak Cliff High School and Summit High School.[4] He also attended, but did not graduate from, University of Memphis and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.[5] He is a Christian.[4]

Politics

July is a libertarian and Anarcho-Capitalist, formerly a Democrat.[6] He previously voted for Barack Obama in 2008.[7] Shortly after becoming a libertarian during the 2012 election, he announced his support for Gary Johnson, the libertarian nominee.[8] He voiced opposition on raising the minimum wage.[9] He supports defunding Planned Parenthood because of government funding.[10] Following the San Bernardino mass shootings, he released a video on Facebook expressing support for gun rights.[11] He opposes the TSA.[12] He supports auditing the Fed.[13] In an interview on Fox & Friends, July stated that Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul is his current favorite for the 2016 election.[9]
