Erki Pehk (born 23 March 1968 in Võru, Estonia) is Estonian conductor, artistic director of opera music festival PromFest.
Education
- 1982–1986 studies of piano and choir conducting at the Tallinn Music High School in Tallinn
- 1986–1993 studies of choir conducting with Prof. Ants Üleoja and orchestra conducting with Peeter Lilje at the Tallinn Conservatoire (later renamed as the Estonian Academy of Music)
- 1992–1994 studies of orchestra conducting at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music with Paul Mägi
- August 1990 attending at the Kirill Kondrashin Conductors Masterclass in Hilversum (teacher Hiroyuki Iwaki)
- July 1991 participation in the Interpretation Course in Stuttgart led by John Eliot Gardiner
- February–March 1997 improving of operatic knowledge at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Prof. Mauritz Sillem
Career
- 1989-1995 conductor of Tallinn Town Hall Chamber Choir
- 1991–1997 conducting teacher in the Tallinn Music High School in Tallinn
- 1994-2011 working as a conductor in the Estonian National Opera
- In 1999 and 2001 semi-finalist in the International Conductor's Competition in Besançon
- January 2000 formed the 21st Century Orchestra in Tallinn in Estonia and is its conductor.
- Since 2001 the Artistic Director of Klaudia Taev Competition for Young Singers
- Since 2005 the Artistic Director of Pärnu International Opera Music Festival - PromFest
- Since 2010 the Principal Conductor of The Symphony Orchestra of the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus [1]
For artistic achievements with the festival PromFest and for the production of Thaïs by Massenet, Mr. Pehk was given the Estonian Theatre Union Musical Production Award in 2010. [2]
