Eskeerdo

Alexander Izquierdo, who records under the mononym Eskeerdo, is a Cuban-American recording artist, rapper, and Grammy award-winning songwriter.[1] He was born in Hialeah, Fl.[2] He first gained recognition in the music industry under the name Xplicit, as 1/5 of the platinum production and writing team The Monsters & The Strangerz. In 2009, Eskeerdo received his first placement for his contribution to "Diddy Boppin" for music-mogul Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs.

Biography

Eskeerdo was born in Hialeah, Florida, a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Born to Cuban parents, Eskeerdo is first generation American and the youngest of three siblings.

His musical abilities developed at the early age of 10 when his older cousin and music producer, Mario, would play beats for Eskeerdo to rap to. Shortly after, at the age of 15, he would drop out of high-school and work two jobs in order to contribute to the household. At this point, Eskeerdo realized music was not only a form of creative release but also a form of income.

Songwriting

The Monsters originated as a group in 2008 when Stefan Johnson[3] engineered a session for Eskeerdo. The Monsters and The Strangerz were both introduced to each other in late 2010 during a session with Def Jam artist Khalil and Atlantic Records artist Diggy Simmons. The session became the start of the group's creative partnership.

Eskeerdo has penned critically acclaimed hits for Diddy, Rihanna, Flo Rida, T.I., Big Sean, Meek Mill, John Legend, Selena Gomez, among others. Most notably, in 2012, Eskeerdo collaborated with some of hip-hop's biggest names to co-write Kanye West's "Clique[4]" which was featured on G.O.O.D Music's album Cruel Summer. That same year he co-wrote "No Love Allowed,[4]" featured on Rihanna's album Unapologetic.

One of Eskeerdo's biggest breaks was being asked to work on Big Sean's Detroit mixtape, which is where he developed a working relationship with Grammy award-winning producer Dion "No I.D." Wilson. Today Eskeerdo continues to be one of No I.D.'s go-to writers.

Music

With the help of a team of his friends including 3 time world champion DJ and Grammy award-winning producer Infamous, Eskeerdo kicked off 2014 with the announcement of his self-titled (six track) EP, to be released in the summer of 2014. Fans were able to catch a sneak peek of some of these tracks during Art-Basel Miami's 2013 event "Fool's Gold Day Off", a free concert featuring artists such as Trick Daddy and A-Trak.[8]

Before heading on tour with Fool's Gold, Eskeerdo dropped off a freestyle fueled mixtape hosted by Don Cannon for his fans titled 31 days. During March 2014, Eskeerdo tackled a new beat every day to show off his range and a multitude of styles.[9]
