Estela Renner is a director and screenwriter, better known for her documentary work.
Work
Estela Renner lived in the United States for seven years, living in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. She worked in the film industry and got her Masters in Motion Pictures, specializing in directing and screenplay (Master in Fine Arts – UM).[1] She worked as an editor for MGM, she wrote and directed short films (that won prizes in Los Angeles) and also Sitcoms.
In Brazil, she directed campaigns for MasterCard, Coca-Cola, L’Oreal, Axe, Itaú (bank), Sundown, and many others. For television, she directed and wrote 12 episodes for the sitcom Mano a Mano, starring the actor Leandro Firmino. She also directed, with the director Tadeu Jungle, the series Amores Expressos, that was shot in Irland, Cuba, Mexico, India, Buenos Aires, and many others. This TV show was aired from May to August 2011, by TV Cultura. As a screenwriter she adapted the book Miguel e os Demônios, from the author Lourenço Mutarelli, for the big screen. And, again with Tadeu Jungle, she wrote the episode “Ela Faz Cinema” from the series Amor em Quatro Atos that was aired in January 2011, by Globo.
As a documentarist, Estela is the director and screenwriter of the polemic documentary – Criança, a Alma do Negócio – that questions the effects in the quality of the children’s childhood and formation made by the publicity directed to them. In 2012, Estela premiered Muito Além do Peso,[2] a documentary about the children obesity epidemic in Brazil and the rest of the world.
