Express Raja is a 2016 Indian Telugu-language film written and directed by Merlapeka Gandhi. Produced by V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati under their production company UV Creations Express Raja features Sharwanand and Surabhi in the lead roles and Prabhas Sreenu and Sapthagiri in the supporting roles. The film was released worldwide on 14 January 2016 coinciding the festival Sankranthi.
Plot
Raja (Sharwanand) is the reckless son of an honest father (Nagineedu) who does a lot of social service. Along with his cousin Seenu (Prabhas Seenu), he spends his days drinking and causing trouble despite being chided by his father numerous times. One fine day, Raja spots Ammu (Surabhi) and falls head over heels for her. He even kidnaps a small puppy to impress her. Post this kidnapping, hell breaks loose as different characters start entering the scene. Why are people running after the puppy and what is the secret behind it? Also, how does Raja solve the puzzle to win over the girl?

Production
In January 2015, it was announced that Sharwanand was cast in a lead role,[2][3] and later Adah Sharma was announced as under consideration for the role of the film's lead female,[4] but Surabhi was the one eventually cast.[5]
In September 2015, it was reported that the filming of a few key scenes with the lead cast were under way in areas of Nizampet, Hyderabad.[6]

Domestic
Express Raja grossed ₹4 crore on opening day at AP/Telangana box office and has become the biggest opener for Sharwanand.[7]
Overseas
Express Raja collected US$170,312[₹ 1.15 crore] in its extended weekend at the United States. It also done decent business in other parts of the globe, where it is estimated to have grossed ₹2 crore. The movie has collected approximately ₹8 crore at the worldwide box office in the first weekend.[8] Express Raja" collected $315,547 at the US box office in two weeks. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh the film has collected $413,324 (₹ 2.81 crore) at the US box office in 3 weeks.[9]
