Ezra Douglas Whitaker (December 11, 1874 – October 24, 1936) was an American bank executive[3] and politician who served as the eleventh Mayor of North Adams, Massachusetts.
Whitaker, the son of Valmore A.,[2] and Emma Louise (Beckwith) Whitaker,[1][2] was born at North Adams, Massachusetts[1] on December 11, 1874.[1]
Education
Whitaker received his early education at Worcester Academy,[1][6] he went on to receive his A.B. from Yale College,[2] in 1898.[1]
Early business career
After he graduated from Yale, Whitaker went to work for the North Adams Savings Bank,[5] additionally, soon after his graduation he was the Treasurer, and a Director of, the Hoosac Valley Street Railway.[5]
Family life
On April 30[5] 1900,[1] Whitaker married Josephine Coenen[1] of Springfield, Massachusetts.[1] The Whitakers had three daughters,[3] including Josephine D. Whitaker.[4]
