FASTER (submarine communications)

FASTER is a planned trans-Pacific submarine communications cable, which is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2016 and to cost US$300 million. The cable will have a capacity of 60Tb/s. The total length of the cable system will be approximately 9,000 km.

The companies involved in the project include China Telecom Global, Global Transit, KDDI, SingTel and NEC (system supplier) and Google.[1]

FASTER will have landings in Chikura and Shima in Japan and Bandon, Oregon
