FASTag is an electronic toll collection system in India, operated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.[1]

Electronic Toll Lanes on the Mumbai Pune Expressway.

The system was initially set up in 2014 on the stretch of the Golden Quadrilateral between Ahmedabad and Mumbai as part of a larger plan to install it on the Delhi - Mumbai arm of the Quadrilateral. The remaining three branches of the Quadrilateral are reported to be part of the system by 2015.[2] In July 2015, toll plazas on the Chennai - Bengaluru stretch of the Golden Quadrilateral started accepting FASTag payments.[3]
