F.C. Carlow (Irish: Cumann Peile Ceatharlach ) is a League of Ireland football club which hails from County Carlow. The club was founded in 2008 and first competed as an U20s team in the League of Ireland. As a result of the team's success in the competition, the following year, Carlow were granted a senior licence. F.C. Carlow now compete in the A Championship,[1] playing their home games at The Meadows. F.C. Carlow's philosophy is to give talented and committed footballers from the south east an opportunity to play at a national level. Carlow endured a tough debut campaign in the A Championship, finishing in eighth place. F.C. Carlow enjoyed a much better second season, finishing fourth, just missing out on a promotion place to Cobh Ramblers In the same season, the Barrowsiders also reached the 3rd round of the FAI Cup, eventually losing 2-1 to Monaghan United in a replay.[2] The club was awarded the Beat FM Sports Personality of the Month Award on foot of this.[3]
F.C. Carlow under-20s
F.C. Carlow have a team competing in the under-20 League of Ireland. F.C. Carlow under-20s have consistently reached the latter stages of the competition in recent years.
