Fábio "Alireza" Carvalho dos Santos (Persian: فابیو کاروالیو, born April 26, 1978 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a Brazilian–Portuguese Goalkeeper who last played for Esteghlal Khuzestan in Iran Pro League.Moved to Argentina and played for Colegiales and Sarmiento
Club career
After years in his home country, a move to Iran kick started a -until then- low profile career. In Iran Carvalho known as Fabio, became a favorite among the Zob Ahan faithful. After stiff competition from African counterpart Issa Endoy, Fabio moved to the second division of Iranian football, the Azadegan League 1. In 2006 Carvalho signed a 2-year contract with Iran's Premier Football League team F.C. Zob Ahan from his previous Liga de Honra club GD Estoril-Praia.[1] For the 2008/2009 season he signed a 2-year contract with Azadegan League team Aluminium Arak F.C. under the command of Javad Zarincheh. Last season he was named best goalkeeper of the Azadegan league 1. Fabio Carvalho joined Mes Rafsanjan F.C. towards the end of the end season, and famously saved a number of penalties, helping his side to reach the semi-finals of the Hazfi Cup.
Personal life
He became interested in Culture of Iran after visiting Iran. He then converted to Shi'a Islam and married an Iranian woman, Simin Jafari, whom he met in Zob Ahan Club in Isfahan. They have a daughter, Isabella Jafari Carvalho dos Santos.[2] Fabio changed his name to "Alireza" after converting to Shi'a Islam.
