Fagron Group

Fagron (till December 31, 2014, Arseus) was founded in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) in 1990 by Ger van Jeveren, the previous CEO of the Fagron Group. Fagron is specialised in pharmaceutical compounding and active in 30 countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific. Fagron generated a turnover of € 335 million in 2013. The company grows by starting up greenfields and organic growth.

Pharmaceutical compounding

The core business of Fagron is pharmaceutical compounding. Pharmaceutical compounding is creating and dispensing tailor-made medications - the root of the pharmacy profession - often symbolised by the mortar and pestle. Pharmaceutical compounding allows the pharmacist to work with the patient and the prescriber to customise medication to meet the patient’s specific needs. It regularly happens, for example, that patients need their medication in a dosage form or strength that is not available or that patients are allergic to an ingredient. In such situations, pharmaceutical compounding provides a tailor-made solution for the patient.

Products

Fagron supplies semi-finished products for use in pharmaceutical compounding, such as aqua purificata, basic solutions, powder mixtures, cream and ointment bases and vehicles. Fagron also offers pharmaceutical raw materials to pharmacies and to the industry. The product range further contains all equipment, instruments and accessories used by pharmacists for pharmaceutical compounding. This includes scales, pestle and mortars, ointment mills, packaging equipment and packaging materials.
